THE GEOSPATIAL CLOUD

Leveraging Cloud Computing

WHAT IS THE GEOSPATIAL CLOUD?

County of San Diego senior analyst Brenda Maldonado uses the custom GIS tools that Quartic Solutions developed to maintain the assessor’s office’s map books

Cloud Platforms + GIS Software  =

THE GEOSPATIAL CLOUD

This concept allows you to analyze complex datasets presented in a visual way via maps.  These maps can be accessed by anyone in your organization (or the public) for real-time updates on important business trends or projects.  The cloud can also be merged with AI to provide your business with predictive strategies to plan for issues that have not materialized yet.  Every map can have thousands of layers to keep track of endless variables.  The geospatial cloud can be used by every size and type of business and organization.

HOW CAN IT HELP MY BUSINESS?

Modern third party systems and mobile solutions will often require cloud integration.  Field employees or customers that need remote access to data usually will need such a solution.  Transitioning all or part of your data to the cloud makes this possible.

Utilizing the cloud enables your organization to have increased control over your GIS environment.  Hosting in regular datacenters could hinder upgrades due to constraints from other Enterprise applications that are hosted in the same place as your GIS environment.  In addition, administration costs could be reduced- increasing your ROI.  By leveraging cloud-based resources, you could be freed up from the substantial 5-year hardware refresh cycle costs, system administration fees, and server room expenses like AC, security, UPS's, etc.

Performance can be more efficient.  If GIS is not hosted on premises, a properly architected Cloud-based computing system offers better performance than on-premise solutions.
