Four Quartic Solutions employees made the annual pilgrimage to the 2015 ESRI Developer Summit this year. As with years past the conference was full of sessions showcasing the latest ESRI technology as well as upcoming releases.
Over the course of the four day summit Esri showed the newest versions to their mobile frameworks for Android, iOS and Windows as well as well traditional desktop environments such as the .NET runtime. The greatest buzz however was around cross platform development. Two new software frameworks are being actively developed. One in QT/QML the other in Xamarin. The ArcGIS QT framework has been around for about a year and sessions covering this were heavily attended, particularly the new cross platform web app builder.
Generating the biggest amount of buzz was the news that Esri has announced plans to develop and support a new Xamarin based .NET runtime. Few details were available but it's release is sure to be heavily anticipated.
Now with two cross platform development options available the future of mobile mapping is looking bright.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
